Mom and Son

When you bless a mom, you bless her children.

PlenteeMore is a South Florida nonprofit celebrating and supporting moms who are doing their best to do their best. Each month, we invite the community to help us surprise one deserving mom with a meaningful gift. Something that lifts her spirit and brings more peace to her and her children. Because when a mom feels seen, her kids feel it too.

Nominations Open September 2025

If you grew up watching your mom struggle, then you get it.

Some people can’t imagine what it’s like. But if you know, you know.

Any of this feel familiar to you:

  • Waking up to find the car repossessed

  • Going without electricity for days

  • No water at home, so you had to shower at a friend’s or relative’s house

  • Having to move again

  • Hearing your mom say, “I don’t have a red cent” or “I just don’t have it this month”

  • Pretending everything was fine when it wasn’t

  • Bills always late and overdue

  • Borrowing from the check cashing place just to get by

  • No gas in the car

  • Watching your mom ask for help again and knowing she felt ashamed

  • Feeling embarrassed for not having what other kids had

  • Carrying shame you didn’t know how to name

  • Growing up fast because you had to help out around the house

IF YOU KNOW...YOU KNOW!

Briana Medard

Founder of the Plenteemore Kindness Project

Growing up, it was just my mom, my brother, my sister and me. And while she didn’t always get everything right, I know she was doing the best she could with what she had. Still, that didn’t change the fact that life was hard. The lights and water were off more times than I can count. Moving every year became our normal. There was always some new start, some temporary solution, some next thing we had to adjust to.

My mom didn’t sit us down to talk about how much she was carrying. She just kept going. But you could feel it. And in some ways, we carried it with her. We got jobs young. Not for extra spending money, but to help cover rent and bills. We leaned on family when we had to, even when it felt more like judgment than support. And through it all, I tried to keep it hidden. I didn’t want my friends to know what life was really like. I learned how to act like everything was fine, even when it wasn’t.

That kind of instability doesn’t just disappear. It followed me into adulthood. I'll never forget having to sleep on my friends couch for about a year after we got evicted from the last home we all stayed in together.

But now? I’m in a different place. I have stability. I have peace. I have more than enough. And with that comes a deep sense of responsibility.

Plenteemore is personal. It is my God-given responsibility to give back. A way to be for someone else what so many people were for us. We would not have made it without the kindness of others. People who stepped in with food, gas, a bill paid, a place to stay. And no matter how big or small the help was, it reminded us we were not alone. That someone saw us. That someone cared. That is what this is about. If we can lift the weight off one mom’s shoulders, even for a moment, we also bring more peace, more joy, more hope to her children. And that is the mission. To bless a mom, and by doing so, bless her whole household.

If you’ve lived any part of this, then you get it. And you know why this matters.
